The Night of many Endings

The Night of Many Endings by Melissa Payne

Hasn't every reader dreamed of getting snowed in at the library? I know I did and still do. Of course the practical things like no power, food and heat never entered my mind. The five characters in the story find themselves snowed in at the library and it isn't at all how you think it would be.

Why I like this story

Five very different people are stranded at the library during a snow storm. Throughout the storm they come to learn and care about each other. I love how all the characters have flaws. No one is perfect. But as they get to know each other and talk about their lives, you can feel their pain and regret. It all seems very real, almost if they were library patrons at any library and you just haven't gotten to know the yet. They all think their issues are horrible and should remain hidden, just like most people think. And yet sometime during the night they realize that they aren't as bad as they thought. Nora, Marlene, Jasmine, Lewis and Vlado are proof that new friends are everywhere, if you step out of yourself and look.

Other reasons I like this book

I really liked how the story didn't just end after they were rescued. And how the five remained in touch and supported each other. There are some surprises at the end, just like real friendships. Sometimes the best friendships are formed in the most unusual circumstances. And sometimes the people who need you the most aren't people you would think of in an ordinary day.
