This is the eighth book of the Magical Mystery Book Club and it is my favorite of the series so far. Every reader knows what it is like to get lost in a good book, this series just takes it a step further. In the basement of the inn is a special enchanted library. When the first lines of a cozy mystery are read aloud the book club members are transported into the book. They have to solve the mystery before they are transported back to the inn. Add in a talking cat, a ghost and an eccentric group of book club members and you have a FUN series.
Why I like this story
What makes this a good book is the suspension of how reading is in real life. Being able to read yourself into a book and take your friends along just sounds like such fun. And knowing if you don't solve the mystery you don't go back home. The characters all share a love of reading and being part of the book group and each places such a part in the book. I can't imagine anyone of them missing, but in a bittersweet ending one stays behind. You have Paige with her practical nature, Glo with her sense of humor, the mother hen of all of them, Moonbeam. Atticus is the professor, Sebastian is comic relief, Zell who has enough sass and spunk for everyone, Forrest who brings youth and technology, Valeria who is fairly new and we are just getting to know and Mollie their very own ghost. And the new member Cosmos who will be a joy to get to know in the next book.
Other reasons I like this book
What starts out as a class reunion at a luxury yoga spa and resort turns into a murder mystery. The descriptions of the spa will have you wishing you could check in. An old friend shows up to the book club's delight. This book is just fun. When you are having a tough day or have just had enough this is the book to read. You will be laughing out loud. This is one of the few series that I put the release date on my calendar as soon as I learn about the next book. All book clubs should be as fun and close as the Magical Mystery Book Club.
