Once again a story about how books bring people together. And more proof that a book club is your best support group. Second chances are given and friendships formed while discussing books over a potluck dinner and a glass of wine.

Jean runs a book club as a cure for the loneliness after her husband dies. And she has put together an eclectic group of women. Loretta is a hoot obsessed with racy romance. Dorothy whose boys will drive her to drink. Mitzi who can find something political in everything including the racy romance. May who dates just for the stories she can tell afterward. And Jean who is so shy all she does is blush. Completely different women who come together once a month to have dinner, wine and discuss the book of the month. I love that such a group comes together. From the outside looking in you wouldn't think they had anything in common. But just as in real life everyone can bond over books

The book clubs that I have enjoyed the most have been the ones where everyone is very different. The discussions are the most interesting. The ladies of the Accidental book club don't just limit themselves to one night a month. Jean and Loretta are neighbors and have known each other for years. I liked how all of these women seem to have stepped from real life. No glamorous jobs or fairy tale lives. Just normal everyday women with problems and friends. When Jean is left to take care of her granddaughter after her daughter has to go rehab, she is faced with the fact she doesn't know her granddaughter at all. 

 And while her granddaughter's behavior might embarrass Jean, it doesn't phase the book club, all of whom continue to support her. The scene with the author will have you rolling out of your chair. We all know women who would react that way to a pompous ass. Pour a glass or two of wine and enjoy!
